What We Heard at AONN 2015

We attended and exhibited at the 2015 AONN Annual Conference in Atlanta this year. What a spectacular opportunity to hear from nurse and patient navigators across the United States! We appreciated the opportunity to tell them about Cordata and to talk oncology care coordination with people who live and breathe it.

Some of the themes we noticed include the following:

For Patient Navigators:

Despite continued advances across the spectrum of cancer care, the distribution of these advances still remains uneven. Disparities in cancer care are persistent and may in some instances actually be widening – given that the cancer burden is growing.

For Nurse Navigators:

New drugs are constantly emerging, yet it is overwhelming to ensure that patients have access to the latest advances (via trial, etc.) due to administrative and financial barriers. ASCO and others are developing models for physicians to demonstrate to patients the cost/benefit analysis of treatment regimes.
