Chief Financial Officer

This role is primarily focused on executing the company’s financial strategy, developing plans for growth to increase company profit while also reducing expenditure, identifying investment opportunities, managing mergers and acquisitions, and assisting the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in developing financial plans and managing accounting procedures.

This position will include the following essential duties and responsibilities:

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee accounting and reporting process
    • Manage bookkeeper/staff accountant(s) in monthly financial statement creation and closing, annual closing, etc.
    • Serve as “Chief Cash Officer” with full understanding of company’s cash position and forecast at all times
    • Manage treasury functions with banks, deposit methods, etc.
    • Manage outside audit/review process
  • Develop and prepare monthly key performance indicators, SaaS metrics, etc. for management team and board
    • Develop and manage system of internal controls
    • Manage the cap table
  • Perform financial planning and analysis
    • Annual budget and forecast preparation
    • Scenario planning for new markets, product extensions, etc.
    • Sensitivity analysis on sales levels, product launch, hiring plans, etc.
    • Develop required financial scenarios and metrics required for debt and equity financings, and work alongside the CEO through the financing process
  • Taxes
    • Prepare materials for outside tax preparation and manage relationship with outside tax accountant
    • Develop and manage system for sales tax payments
    • All other tax compliance issues

Other Responsibilities

  • Act as “Chief Compliance Officer”
    • Proper registrations for all states in which Cordata does business
    • Legal and regulatory requirements
    • Interface with legal counsel
  • Maintain official corporate records and internal legal documents
    • LLC or Corporate
    • Board minutes and resolutions
    • Permits, state and federal filings
  • Manage human resources records, HR regulatory compliance, etc.
    • Payroll and benefits administration and management
    • Maintain employee and contractor roster with compensation
    • Bonus plans
    • Documents for option, stock appreciation rights, profits interests or another award
  • Recommend and manage insurance coverages

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • BA in Finance, Accounting or similar field required, MBA desired
  • At least 10 years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting roles
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Sr. Financial Manager or similar role
  • Experience with venture financing structures and capital raise processes is desired
  • Strong background in compliance
  • Some background in HR administration is desired
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership skills with the ability to delegate, motivate and inspire team members
  • Honesty and integrity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment, Cincinnati, OH preferred but not required
  • Some travel required

Salary, bonus and stock compensation provided commensurate with experience.
