Melissa O'Mara is an Assistant Prosecutor in the Trial Unit of the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office, and has been in long-term recovery from drugs and alcohol since 2011. She has dedicated her career to finding solutions to the addiction crisis.

Melissa's passion for addiction recovery has moved her to lead several diversion programs within the Prosecutor's Office and throughout Burlington County, and beyond. In addition to the walk-in "Straight . . . to Treatment program, and the 24/7/365 Operation Helping Hand law enforcement and peer recovery specialist response program, Melissa regularly teaches "Five Minutes to Help" to emergency responders throughout New Jersey, aimed at reducing stigma and establishing warm interactions that increase the opportunity to connect people to services.

In addition to her legal work, Melissa serves as the chair of Burlington County's Local Advisory Committee on Drug and Alcohol Abuse and on the Executive Leadership Committee of PTACC.
