Cincinnati, OH – January 28, 2017: Cordata Healthcare Innovations today announced it has acquired the Clinical Outcomes Report Card System from Prizm Development, Inc. Effective immediately, Cordata will use Prizm’s outcomes system to help its clients analyze resource utilization and reduce the overall cost of their spine care programs.

This analysis, in combination with quality outcomes data collected and reported from the Cordata care coordination and patient engagement platform, enables spine care providers to move quickly in their transition to value-based payment systems. Specifically, providers will be better positioned to maximize MIPS payments as defined in the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) and better prepared for more transparent and effective direct-to-employer treatment bundles.

The acquisition also includes a consulting partnership under which Prizm will interpret outcomes data and propose improvements for hospitals and health systems to improve clinical and financial performance. In addition, Prizm will act as an independent audit firm for hospitals and health systems wishing to pursue accreditation as a spine center of excellence.

“To become spine centers of excellence, most hospitals and healthcare organizations need much greater visibility into their performance and improved access to data,” said Gary Winzenread, CEO of Cordata. “Clearer understanding of referral patterns, current usage of conservative care paths and the most effective treatments for different acuity levels is critical to identifying the best path to improved outcomes. Ultimately, this level of insight prepares hospitals for MACRA payments specifically and the ongoing evolution to value-based payment systems generally.”

“This is a very exciting partnership because it allows Prizm to remain focused on the vision of helping health systems and hospitals create spine centers of excellence, while the outcomes technology is enhanced through the expertise of a proven healthcare IT leader like Cordata,” said Bob Reznick, MBA, President, Prizm Development. “Cordata’s capabilities already align effectively to core MACRA concepts of quality and cost improvement. Better data for cost reporting and outcomes tracking is of great benefit to payors and employers as this is the data they need to light the way as the industry moves from task-based to outcomes-based reimbursement systems.”
